Josephine Adelstein is a 13-year-old American girl born in April 2010 to actors Liza Weil and Paul Adelstein. Her mother is an American actress best known for her role as Paris Geller in the WB/CW comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls and its Netflix revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Her father is an American actor and writer best known for his role as Agent Paul Kellerman in the Fox television series Prison Break and his role as pediatrician Cooper Freedman in the ABC medical drama Private Practice. Her Mother, Liza Weil

Born in Passaic, New Jersey in 1984 into an acting family, Liza Weil was raised in Reform Judaism and went with her parents, Lisa and Marc Weil, on tour in Europe with The Madhouse Company of London. When she was seven, they settled in Lansdale, Pennsylvania northwest of Philadelphia. Weil was inspired to become an archaeologist due to her love of the Indiana Jones films and a crush on Harrison Ford and was able to graduate from North Penn High School in 1995 earlier than the regular term due to her acting commitments. Her first appearance on network television was in a 1995 episode of As the World Turns.

Liza has appeared in films, television shows, and short films, she has starred in films such as The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Stir of Echoes, Whatever, Motel Jerusalem, Scar, Lullaby, Year of the Dog, and Neal Cassady. On television, she has had recurring roles on Gilmore Girls, Eleventh Hour, CSI, In Plain Sight, Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal, Bunheads, How to Get Away with Murder, and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Weil is also a frequent collaborator of independent film director Noah Buschel, having appeared in most of his work. She is currently appearing as FBI agent Katherine Russo in the Fox series The Cleaning Lady.

Her Father, Paul Adelstein

Paul Adelstein is an accomplished actor and musician, born in Chicago, Illinois to a Reform Jewish family. After attending the progressive Francis W. Parker School and graduating Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude with a degree in English from Bowdoin College, he began his career in theatre, working with New Crime Productions and Steppenwolf Theatre Company. His film debut was in The Grifters (1990), followed by supporting roles in films such as Bedazzled (2000), Intolerable Cruelty (2003), Memoirs of a Geisha (2005), and Be Cool (2005). He has also had a recurring role as Leo Bergen on Scandal and has had a regular role in the suspenseful television series Prison Break, as well as playing the main role of Jake Novak in Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce and Raymond Blackstone in Hulu’s Chance. As a musician, Adelstein is the lead singer and guitarist of the band Doris, for which he has recorded several albums. He is also a pianist and guitarist.

Paul Adelstein and Liza Weil wed in a Reform Jewish ceremony in 2006 and would go on to appear in three film projects together. Following nine years of marriage, Weil filed for divorce in March 2016 seeking joint custody of their daughter.
