Jill Urbanus Pitino is the loving wife of Richard Pitino, the son of Rick Pitino. The two started dating in high school and have been together ever since. Richard Pitino was born on September 16, 1982, in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the son of Iona head coach Rick Pitino and is currently the head coach of the New Mexico Lobos men’s basketball team. Pitino attended St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, Massachusetts before obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in history at Providence College in 2005.

He began his coaching career in 2004 as an administrative assistant at the College of Charleston, and in 2005, he joined Northeastern University as an assistant coach under Ron Everhart. He then followed Everhart to Duquesne University the following year. In 2009, he accepted a position to work under Billy Donovan at the University of Florida and helped the Gators advance to two NCAA tournaments, including one Elite Eight appearance in 2010. In 2012, Pitino left Florida to become the head coach at Florida International University, where his team finished with an 18–14 record and the best conference record in school history. In 2013, he was hired as the 17th head coach of the University of Minnesota and led the Gophers to a 25–win record and their first NIT championship since 1993. In 2017, he earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors for his team’s 11–7 conference record, the most wins for the Gophers in 20 years. On March 15, 2021, Pitino was fired from Minnesota after eight seasons, having finished with a 14–15 record and 0–10 in conference play on the road.

Richard Andrew Pitino was born on September 18, 1952, in New York City. He is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach of Iona University. Throughout his career, Pitino has been the head coach of several teams in NCAA Division I and the NBA, including Boston University, Providence College, the New York Knicks, the University of Kentucky, the Boston Celtics, the University of Louisville, and Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League and EuroLeague. He is the only coach to lead three different schools (Providence, Kentucky, and Louisville) to a Final Four. Pitino was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. In 2017, he was suspended for five games of the 2017–18 season for his lack of oversight in an escort sex scandal at the University of Louisville. Additionally, Louisville’s 2013 national championship was vacated. In September 2017, Pitino was implicated in a federal investigation involving bribes to recruits, resulting in Louisville firing him for the cause.
