Conrad Nicholson Hilton Sr. is an American businessman who developed the Hilton Hotel chain. He lived from December 25, 1887, to January 3, 1979. Hilton served as a Republican in the first New Mexico Legislature from 1912 to 1916, but he grew weary of the “inside deals” of politics.
In 1919, Conrad Hilton paid $40,000 for his first hotel, the Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas, which benefited from the oil boom. Furthermore, he continued buying and selling hotels, eventually founding the first global hotel network.
Conrad Nicholson Hilton bequeathed the majority of his wealth to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation when he passed away in 1979.
