Hailie Deleon got into the headlines for being the daughter of a serial killer, Skylar Deleon. Skylar’s murder of a middle-aged couple is one of the coldest, most mindlessly cruel killings in the history of the US.
Hailie Deleon’s Family and her Story
Hailie Deleon was born in 2003 to Skylar and Jennifer. John Julius Jacobson Jr. was born on August 12, 1979, in California, USA. The son of a convicted drug dealer, John began acting in bit parts in commercials as a child. He claimed that his father abused him. He changed his name to Skylar Julius Deleon and ran away. At age 14, he appeared in the series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. As an adult, he struggled to remember lines, and his career faltered. At the age of 20, he joined the U.S. Navy, however, for an unauthorized absence of fifteen days he was discharged.
Skylar married Jennifer Henderson in September 2002, just one year after they met online. They had 2 children, Hailie and Kaleb. With a family to take care of, and a shortage of money, the couple entered the world of crime. While serving time in jail in 2003, Skylar befriended Jon Jarvi and convinced him to take out a $50,000 loan for an investment in Mexico. Skylar took the money and cut Jarvi’s throat before walking away. Skylar’s thirst for money didn’t end there and he went on for a hunt again.
In 2004, Thomas Hawks, a retired probation officer, and his wife, Jackie Hawks, decided to sell their yacht and set up a home in Newport Harbor, to be closer to their grandchildren. They placed an advertisement for their 55-foot boat named “Well Deserved” for $440,000 which was answered by Skylar Deleon. Skylar pretended to be interested in buying the yacht and convinced them to go out to sea for a test cruise. He forced them to sign the ownership documents before tying them to the anchor and throwing them overboard, dragging them to an inevitable death by drowning.
On March 13, 2008, Skylar partially severed his penis with a razor blade while being held in jail. After receiving medical attention, he was returned to jail the following day. He later changed his gender to female and renamed himself officially Skylar Preciosa Deleon.
Hailie Deleon’s crimes and Trials
Hailie Deleon was still a kid when the heinous murder happened. But she had a small role in the plotting. Her mother used her as bait to convince the Hawks couple before murdering them.
After finding Skylar’s involvement in the killing of Tom and Jackie Hawks in 2004 and Jon Jarvi in 2003, he was sentenced to the death penalty by lethal injection. He is currently awaiting the death penalty in Orange County Jail. The case was featured in a famous ’20/20′ docu-series.
